SUMMARY:The Sacred Enneagram Workshop in Omaha\, Nebraska
DESCRIPTION:For a list of current enneagram workshops click here.\nThe Sacred Enneagram: Finding Your Unique Path to Spiritual Growth\nAn Introductory Workshop with Chris Heuertz\n \nWhat is the Enneagram? \nThe enneagram is a sacred map that helps identify unconscious and subconscious motivations for acting\, feeling\, and thinking.  It reveals facets of personal character traits but is different from other personality profiles because of its links to childhood wounds and the way it illuminates a path forward for healing and wholeness. \nCompared with other self-exploration profiles and assessments\, many have found that the enneagram piercingly takes things deeper. \nThis is a powerful resource for anyone’s contemplative path; it simultaneously dismantles the illusions about us\, while revealing our essence—our True Self. \nUltimately\, the enneagram supports offering our best self to a world in a need. Whether you’ve heard of the Enneagram or not\, this is a great workshop for anyone who’s interested in learning more. \nThe workshop will include: \nPersonal inventory tool to identify your personal type and to translate results. \nExplanation on how to understand what the enneagram system entails. \nBackground on the conflicted and contested origins of the enneagram. \nCurated summary of the nine types (includes wings\, stress/heart points\, fundamental needs\, basic fears\, passions\, fixations\, invitations to spiritual growth) \nSummary of the enneagram’s communication and social styles. \nContemplative prayer postures for each type. \nCosts:  Non-refundable\, $165.00 registration \nNote: Lunch is included and sponsored by Via Farina\, a local Omaha restaurant. \nSpace is limited so register now to make sure you have a spot! \nRegister Here Now\n\nAbout Chris Heuertz: Chris has spent his life bearing witness to the possibility of hope among a world that has legitimate reasons to question God’s goodness. \nOriginally from Omaha\, Nebraska\, Chris studied at Asbury University in Kentucky before moving to India where he was mentored by Mother Teresa for three years. While living in India\, he helped launch South Asia’s first pediatric AIDS care home–creating a safe haven for children. \nIn 2012 Chris and his wife Phileena launched Gravity\, a Center for Contemplative Activism. \nNamed one of Outreach magazine’s “30 Emerging Influencers Reshaping Leadership\,” Chris is a curator of unlikely friendships\, an instigator for good\, a champion of collaboration\, and a witness to hope\, Chris fights for a renewal of contemplative activism. \n\nSponsored by Archetype Coffee\, Via Farina Pasta & Pizza\, Boxed Water and Pettit’s Pastry \n \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Join Chris Heuertz and meet our friend Nourma from Indonesia\, a labor trafficking survivor\, as they raise awareness about the fastest growing criminal enterprise that affects all of us. SUMMARY:Elements in Chicago\, Illinois
DESCRIPTION:“Ironically\, as much as we yearn for deep friendships and meaningful communities\, many of us seem to be unable to find our way into them. Even if we know we’re made for community\, finding one and staying there seems almost impossible. Though we hate to admit it\, if we stay long enough in any relationship or set of friendships\, we will experience failure\, doubt\, burnout\, loneliness\, transitions\, a loss of self\, betrayal\, frustration\, a sense of entitlement\, grief\, and weariness. Yet it’s these painful community experiences\, these tensions we struggle to navigate\, that hold surprising gifts.” \nElements[Chicago] speaker Chris Heurtz has experienced community in many forms from his hometown of Omaha to some of the most poverty stricken parts of the world. And yet\, his experience of community is universal. Come hear how Chris believes that some of the toughest parts of community can be some of life’s most unexpected gifts.

SUMMARY:The Marin Foundation's Living in the Tension Meeting in Chicago\, Illinois
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to be hosting Chris Heuertz in Chicago as a part of our Living in the Tension series to share some thoughts with us connected to his new book\, Unexpected Gifts: Discovering the Way of Community. \nIn ‘Unexpected Gifts’\, Chris names the inevitable challenges that all friendships\, relationships\, and communities experience if they stay together long enough. Rather than allowing these challenges to become excuses to leave\, he suggests that things like betrayal\, transitions\, failure\, loss of identity\, entitlement\, and doubt may actually be invitations to stay. And in staying\, Chris expands upon how these challenges can become unexpected gifts. \nView the book trailer here. \nThere are few\, if any\, people that have influenced our work with The Marin Foundation like Chris. For the last 20 years\, Chris served as the Co-Director for Word Made Flesh\, an organization seeking to serve Jesus among the poorest of the poor. Recently\, Chris has begun a new venture with Phileena Heuertz in establishing the organization\, Gravity – A Center for Contemplative Activism. At the center\, they are helping those on mission and activists to do good better by grounding their work in contemplative spirituality. \nWe will be gathering in the Fellowship Hall on the bottom level of First Free. We hope that you can come out and join us for the night!
